My hubby said this is his favorite dinner now. He loved it. I did not come up with this recipe, I found it here http://getcrocked.com/. Although, I did make my own changes to the base of the recipe.
I love Crock Pot recipes. I put them together when my son is taking his nap and dinner is done early in the day.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground Jimmy Dean sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
29 oz can tomato sauce
1 cup water
6 oz can tomato paste
1 tsp salt
9 lasagna noodles, uncooked
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
or Italian blend cheese (Kraft)
16 oz Ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Step 1:
Cook ground beef, onion, and garlic in a saucepan until browned.
At the same time, cook sausage in separate saucepan.
(Love the heart measuring "cups" my mom sent me for Valentines Day!)
Step 2:
Drain Ground beef. Put into large mixing bowl. Drain sausage, add to bowl. Add tomato sauce, water, tomato paste, & salt. Mix very well. Make sure tomato paste isn't in big clumps.
Step 3:
Spread 1/4th of the meat sauce in ungreased crock pot. Arrange 3 uncooked noodles long ways on bottom. The middle noodle will fit but the two side noodles you will have to break a little off the ends until they fit.
Step 4:
Combine the shredded cheese, ricotta cheese, and parmesan cheese in a mixing bowl. Stir well. Spoon 1/3rd of the cheese mixture over noodles. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining sauce.
Step 5:
Cover. Cook on low for 4-5 hours. Add shredded cheese to top 10-15 minutes before done.
Enjoy!
